A Trip to Queen Creek

So yesterday I got to go to Queen Creek to get a tour of my new school. I was nervous and excited (feelings I seem to have all the time!). Everyone met in the gym and we got to go around and introduce ourselves and say what grade we will be teaching. It seems like we have a pretty nice staff. So after introducing ourselves, I found out who I would be working with in 1st grade. I really like the ladies I will be working with. One is my age and she is going on her 5th year of teaching. The other one is older than us, but it is her first year of teaching! She seems like she is going to be great though. We went to check out our classrooms that were assigned to us before eating the lunch that they served us (we were too excited to wait)!

When I first walk into my room this is what I see. My cabinets, sink, and drinking fountain.

This area is my bulletin boards. They don't have bulletin boards around the room. The person you see Sheila, she is one of my team members.

I was so excited when I saw that they were giving us cubbies. Now I don't have to spend my own money to buy them, yay! My other team member, Aubrey, is in this picture.

On the opposite side from my bulletin board space, I have 2 whiteboards and a smartboard in the middle.

Since my classroom is at the end of the hallway, I got two windows in my classroom.

The door next to my cabinets is my adjoining door into Aubrey's classroom. That will be helpful.

Here is one of my desk (I get two) and the other one near the window is for the kids to use. The door you see is the entrance into my classroom.

So that is a tour of my classroom. Next week I'm going to start moving my things into there and start the decorating. Next week I will be meeting with a few other teachers to discuss how we want to do things at our school. So I'm exciting to be part of the decision making. I also found out that our school colors are teal and black and our mascot is the Roadrunner.

Since I was in Queen Creek, I thought I would stop by our house and see how it was coming along. It's exciting to know that we'll be moving into our house next month! Here are some pictures I took.

This is approaching my neighborhood.

Here is the entrance into our neighborhood.

Here is our house. It looks like they are getting read to paint the outside of the house. I saw them taping up the window areas.

Not sure if you can really see or not, but there is a man inside the garage spraying white paint onto our garage walls. They have also poured in the concrete for the driveway.

So while I was down in Queen Creek, I got a phone call saying that my dad was being rushed to the hospital by ambulance. My brother was out with my dad and I guess my dad told him he was having a hard time to breathe. So my brother was taking him to the hospital but my dad told him to call the ambulance because he didn't think he could make it. So I left Queen Creek and headed to the hospital. They said he was not getting enough liquids and was dehydrated. They kept him overnight to monitor him and make sure everything with his heart is okay. Hopefully he will be coming home today.
